SummerFest '09

One of Capital's many great summer highlights is the Sunday leading up to the July 4th holiday. This year it was on June 28th featured many awesome things. It all kicked off with our special morning service entitled "God and Country Day" featuring a special patriotic musical performance honoring our nation's military.

Following the last service that ended at 12:30, we gathered together as a church and community family and celebrated the special weekend with a wide array of great festivities on our church grounds and in our gym! We served free hamburgers, hotdogs, corn on the cob, potato salad, and watermellon for lunch. There was also a bunch of great rides and games like Ponies, the Noah's Ark Obstacle Course, the Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course, the Giant Slide, the Water Gun Maze, and the Preschool Ball Crawl!

We also featured a special guest and show in our gymnasium. This year we featured one increadible "cheat day," even getting our Senior Pastor's endorsement despite his campaign for eating healthy! We were priveledged to have with us Norman Davis, an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind creator of wedding cakes, pastry chef, and an award-winning chocolatier. He also owns The Sweet Life bakery in Annandale, VA. Norman is probably most well known for his appearances on the Food Network Cake Challenges. Norman hosted a special mini cake decorating challenge and auction in our gym as well as provide a special cake that we served to all our members and guests!
