VBS 2008
This year's Vacation Bible School theme was science. Children who were in attendance discovered some amazing things about Jesus' miraculous power through His scientific creations. The week was highlighted by our two special guests: the Mad Science Group and The Great Scott.

The Great Scott is Children's Ministries Pastor, Scott Dodson, from Church of the Open Door in California. Scott entered ministry after being a public school science teacher for a number of years. He accepted Christ at 21 through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Scott graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Elementary Education. He received a Masters in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. When Scott is not ministering to kids at his church, he enjoys going out into the community to find more kids to tell about God's amazing creations with his trunk full of science experiments and hovercraft. Scott enjoys sharing spiritual truths through science in schools, churches, and pretty much anywhere they will allow him to shake up sodas and legally blow stuff up.

On the final day of VBS, the Great Scott passed over his tye dyed lab jacket to his apprentice Skylar Leslie, nicknamed "Skylab" for the final day's experiments and lesson. We are pleased to report that our assistant did very well as the new professor! You can watch Skylab in action here: Skylab
Another highlight from the Rally besides Mad Science and the Great Scott was our KidsTown Drama Team who played the roles of each of the PowerLab characters: Electra, Sparki, Fizz, Dewd, and Max. Each day the group, known as the Sci-5, introduced the kids to the day's topic and shared with them the Bible verse they would be learning in Bible Blast. They also made an appearance during the closing rally, reviewing for the kids what had been taught that day.

Other Special Performers of this year's VBS included our new mascot that joins All-Star the wolf. He is a lime green Gorilla names Zaeus (after Planet of the Apes) and a bunch of youth dressed as Super Heroes. Zaeus thrilled and delighted the kids all week by utilizing his t-shirt cannon to launch shirts and beanie babies into the crowd. He also was seen on numerous occassions raiding the bathrooms of toilet paper and using his TP Blower to make messes in the audience. (the kids didn't seem to mind one bit!)
Our Super Heroes were Skylar Leslie, Cristen Gauthier, Zach Leslie, Kyle Schlarman, Dustin Gauthier, Crystal Lillo, Morgan Eldred, Patty Porter, and Julia Dennis. The Super Heroes performed this year's hit song, Superhero by Hillsong Kids.

Another great superhero that made a daily appearance was SuperPig who reminded us of the daily theme each day from his secret lab in an unknown location.

There were a lot of other great songs during VBS and every year we are asked where one can acquire them. Well, unfortunately they are not all conveniently available on one CD. Pastor Josh pulls songs from multiple sources and mixes the lineup himself. Here, however, is a list of all the songs performed in the Sanctuary Rally and on what CD they can be found. You can then google for the CD to buy or download some of them off iTunes.
