This year's VBS was one for the ages! In celebration of Pastor Josh's five years of service at CBC (and thus five completed VBS themes), the children took a time traveling journey back in time to revisit and relive all their favorite memories from the last five years of VBS here at Capital. HG Wellsworth, an eccentric high school professor set out to find the meaning of real living and its source which he believed happened over 2000 years ago around the year 4 AD (according to his extensive research of course!). With the help of his time machine (cranky and cluttered and barely functional at times) HG and his class students travel back in time each day of VBS ultimately reliving one of the old VBS themes from 2007-2011. There was reliving Finding Nemo from 2010, and working out with Tom and doing the "Sprinkler" exercise from 2007. There was also a science demonstration with the Great Scott from 2008 and a Shake it Up song with Kaitlyn and Nerissa from 2011. On the final day, the class students and HG work together and end up in the Safari of 2009 and they encounter old friends, Amy the jeep driver and Joe Bruce, the wild animal balloon hunter. It is here that they find the source of really living when Joe shows them an old Bible. They also realize that they don't have to go back 2000 years to discover real life but that it can be discover right in their present year 2012 and on into the future until Jesus returns!
It is with a very special thanks to everyone who returned for this special event and made memories with us one more time in our reunion-based theme!

Preschoolers also received a special treat this year with special guest performances from Kendall Wilkerson and Joshua Rueda who brought their puppetry skills to the show, performing several puppet skits and songs including Spinning Around and Dive. Their humorous skit skit with their two kid characters Kendall and Buzz and the toilet paper was a crowd favorite. The preschoolers also liked the swimming fish in the song Dive. The Great Scott and Joe Bruce also brought their talents to the stage with some of their science tricks and puppets.
A DVD of this year's show will be available soon. You can reserve a copy today by contacting Pastor Josh here: jbaker@capitalbaptist.org
