Sugar Rush at Easter

"A Truly Sweet Show" ~critics review

Newcomer Kaitlyn Artiles hit a home run with her performance as Vanellope von Schweetz and veteran performer Evan Granrud put in his best performance yet. Each character played their role beautifully and hit all their lines helping us get our main message through to our audience making this one of the best actor performances by the whole team to date.

Vanellope and Ralph both learned that what they each had for their lives was part of the Master Programmer's (God's) plan for their lives and that what they perceived as glitches were really gifts, which in turn made them winners.

There was so much important and valuable words spoken through the characters in this particular play, we hope that you got to see it and took away something for your own life from it!

If not, you can still see it on dvd coming soon!

(it will be available in the Gym lobby where the media is sold. You can also email Pastor Josh if you would like one sent to you. They will be $10 +shipping)

For Photos, you can access them by going to our Snapfish account. There are two folders, one has the general Sugar Rush photos in it and the other has all the photos of the kids posing with the characters.

Preschool Ministry

This past week, we highlighted our Preschool Ministry here at Capital. We were excited to present to the church our new Preschool Director, Jessica Kellerman. She is an awesome Mom with a wonderful personality, a teachers background, and some great ideas for the future of Preschool! I encourage you to join with Jess and become a part of this exciting new step in our ministry! If you didn't get to see her video this past Sunday you can do so by clicking here!

2013 CHILDREN'S MINISTRY CALENDAR

Baptism

There have been many requests over the last couple months for Pastor Josh to do a baptism for a child, either by parent request or the child's. Normally this is the role our Senior Pastor plays but we have worked out an arrangement that I will attempt to do a couple baptism opportunities each year, right now, one in the spring and one probably in the fall. Now, any child can request to be baptized any time of the year and Pastor Steve will perform the ceremony, but if they specifically want Pastor Josh to perform the ceremony, here is your first chance! In order to be baptized, the child must first schedule a visit with Pastor Josh to discuss baptism and Pastor Josh will only baptize children (6th grade and below). If you have a child that is considering baptism and wants Pastor Josh to perform the ceremony, your first (and only for a while!) opportunity will be MARCH 3 at 9:30am. If you are interested please call Pastor Josh to schedule a visit. You can also reply to this post and he will call you. Pastor Steve will also probably be doing an Easter Service baptism as this is a popularly requested date. You can also contact us if you are interested in this specific date.

KTL Birthdays

In KTL we love celebrating birthdays! Last year, we showed our appreciation to our volunteer performers and stage crew by remembering each of their birthdays in a special way during their birthday month.
One of the most memorable was Evan Granrud's birthday in which we did a parody of the book "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and retitled it "If You Give Evan a Cookie." For those who attend KTL, they know all about Evan and his love of cookies!

Merry Christmas!

Holiday Greetings from all your friends at
Capital's Children's Ministry!

This holiday season, the KidsTown Live! performing crew got together to throw one great holiday party for all the kids that come and see them so faithfully each week.
As part of the deal, the kids got to vote on which characters they wanted each of our actors to come back as during the celebration. Among the cast, was Pocahontas, the Queen of Hearts, Candace, Lucy, Blueberry Muffin, Merida, Dory, Molly Mahoney, and a Ninja among others! Each character was put to task to find out the history behind one aspect of our holiday celebration, whether it was the Christmas stocking, the tree, the mistletoe, or Santa Claus. Each actor's findings were shared with the kids.
Also there was food that was themed to each actor at various tables that the kids got to rotate around to and sample, for example, there was shark head watermelon at Dory's table and granola for Pocahontas and at Candace's table there were corn dogs in honor of Mr Slushy Burger. Molly had a chocolate fondu fountain and the medieval table with Merida had sausage and ale (ginger ale, that is!).
One final special treat that the children got to enjoy was a special full length puppet show by our good friend Matthew Chandler, who came back for a visit and brought with him all our beloved friends from Pester and Rocky to Arnold and of course, Grandma Stewmaker. Another special guest, Sam, brought with him Chewy to assist (or should we say wreck havoc) in the puppet show.
